Type Locality and Naming

Along the city of Aldyar, Fergana, Kyrgyzstan. A.S. Telenkov, 1964 (468, p.83). The stratigraphic name has limited application. B.I. Pinhasov

Synonym: Aldyar Suite, Алдырская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Brown-red siltstone (aleurolites) with layers of sandstones. Thickness 30-660m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies unconformably on the Iskinaukat-Mioc Fm or Karasugat Fm

Upper contact

conformably overlies the Kaplankul Fm

Regional extent

South-Eastern Fergana. V.I. Popov et al. (166) correlate with the Yezgan Fm of Darvaza (Tajikistan) and the lower part of the gypsum-bearing suite A2 of the North-Western Fergana scheme of N.P. Vasilkovsky (126), These gypsum-bearing deposits Yu.R. Smolnikov et al. (1973f.) attributed to the Khamaltepin Fm. Along B.I. Pinhasov, correlates with the Obchak Fm.
